While England's place in next year's World Cup was confirmed long ago (despite losing 0-1 to The Ukraine yesterday), the same can't be said for Argentina. The South American giants took on already eliminated Peru, hoping for a victory which would greatly ease the pressure on coach Diego Maradona.
Gregorio and Alvaro, both supporting Argentina, watched the game with Mr and Mrs Starr, who were rooting for Peru. A very tense game: Peru made it 1-1 in the 90th minute, but Argentina snatched a last gasp winner, 4 minutes into injury time, much to the delight of Gregorio, whose cries of joy echoed around the house as the game ended at nearly 1am (8pm in Buenos Aires).
Mrs Starr was ready with the camera to capture the all-important moments.
Argentina face Uruguay in Montevideo on Wednesday night - the winners of this game are guaranteed to go to the World Cup in South Africa next year, while the losers will have to attempt to get there through a play-off game against New Zealand.
