I hope everyone enjoys the holiday. I look forward to opening up the House on the evening of Sunday 21st Feb. All parents are invited to a talk on drugs education, awareness and prevention of abuse by the excellent Bob Tait from DRED, the Drugs Education Agency. This will be in the Great Hall, at 1930.
Bob has worked for nine years in drugs education and drugs intelligence in the Royal Navy, with young offenders and for the Home Office. DRED UK visits about 230 schools a year across the UK.
Please note that Bob visited last year and a number of you have already heard him speak. If you missed him, I strongly urge you to come along - he is outstanding, you will be enlightened. If you heard him last year, you are very welcome back. He will be talking about:
· What is a drug?
· Why and how are they used?
· Signs and symptoms.
· New trends.
· Drugs recognition.
· Talking to young people about drugs.
· Avenues of help.
Bob will be speaking to all pupils in Years 9 and 10 and new 6th Formers throughout the day on Monday. Years 11, 12 and 13, who heard Bob last year, will be listening to a reformed drug addict, Georgie Calder , on Monday 1st March.
Raising your awareness and understanding will help us all protect your children from the threat of drugs.
