Small world

One of the delights of a trip like this is who you meet along the way.

I ran into former colleague Simon Dennis, now teaching Biology at Marlborogh, while waiting at Wooton Rivers. He and his family happened to be taking a walk along the Kennet and Avon canal.

And the landlady of my B&B at Great Bedwyn turned out to be a Shiplake grandmother.

Mr Mason of the Bruce Trust was immensely kind and allowed us to use a loo at Great Bedwyn - they do a fantastic job providing canal trips for disabled people of all ages.

And I've met at least four people involved with the Scouts and other youth organisations who wished us well with the DofE expedition.
