Sixth form study skills; A level choices

Year 12 spent half an hour this morning thinking about thinking. Mr Pavey, head of Sixth Form, gave them a ‘Learning Styles’ questionnaire. It was a very quick introduction to help them think about the way they learn. It highlighted to them that they have 16 hours of private study time a week (study periods and prep time). He then focused on ‘note taking’ in relation to different types of learning styles. Making the most of their study periods and prep time was the general theme. Some pupils are in the Great Hall for extended periods so there are some newspapers provided if they need to take a small break (found in staff room if not in GH).

On Sat 16th October there will be an information morning for all year 11 parents, to set out details of what lies in store next year. You should have received an email about this - do please contact me if your son is in year 11, and you haven't.
