The Royal Navy section deployed in a range of vessels, from a narrow boat to open canoes, during Field Day on the Thames on Tuesday. Exercises included man overboard drills; mooring at locks, muddy banks and jetties; cooking lunch, and an observation test which revealed that it could cost twice as much (£1000 maximum fine) to leave uncollected dog poo than to continue drinking alcohol after being asked not to by a police officer, on the Thames Path in Reading. Some of the pictures at http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/charly.lowndes/20090512CCFRNFieldDayRiverThames#
show spokesmen from Red, White and Blue watches discussing what laws, duties and punishments would be applied if they were shipwrecked on a remote island with no prospect of rescue.
The Army deployed to woods nearby and did strange tactical things, so well cammed up they are hard to see.
The RAF went to visit Odiham where their visit to this important helicopter station included the Fire Section and Air Traffic Control.
