Another departure from Burr

I feel that you should know that Burr will be losing Rich and Agueda Starr at the end of this term. They have decided to move on after five happy years at Shiplake – indeed, they had thought of leaving a few years ago but decided to hang on, perhaps to make sure the Housemaster didn’t go completely mad, but also, as Rich said when he told the boys, because Burr is a happy place to work. Now, having celebrated a Significant Birthday (Resident Tutors still seem very young to me) he has resigned to seek a new pasture. I know that Shiplake loses not only a tutor, but a Modern Language teacher (the department with some of the best results of any, last summer), Master in Charge of Football, and CCF officer (who gave up his Sunday to take boys gliding today).

Agueda, Lesley and Rich - on Confirmation Sunday recently
Rich and cadets (including Louis Jarvis)  at 612 Volunteer Gliding Sqn today
The plan is that Rich will be succeeded by Mr Jack Caine, who joins us as an ICT Teacher (replacing me) in September. It will be his first teaching post – he is a fine man with a lot to offer us beyond the intricacies of check digit check calculations in modulo 37 (his lessons are bound to be more fun than mine, as you can see).
