School/Food council


Meeting of the school and food council on Thursday 17th May held in the morning room

Thanks to James Rossi and Harry Marsden for representing Burr




FOOD

Lower school:

·        Chili signs/ spicy ratings of food

Burr:

·        Pancakes at weekend for brunch
·        Plastic yogurts containers are good

Everett:

·        Popcorn machine at tuck shop
·        Greater selection of drinks
·        More variety at breakfast, French toast etc.
·        More variety of sauces at dinner, sauces that complement diner
·        Five pieces at breakfast: NO

Orchard:

·        Less mayonnaise in sandwiches
·        Seasoning in casseroles is often too big and not chopped up thin enough

Skipwith:

·        More lamb dishes
·        More choice of packed lunches/ better sandwich fillings
·        Less butter and mayonnaise in sandwiches
·        Hot sandwiches at lunch, Panini
·        Energy drinks to be sold at sports hall
·        Steaks are often chewy/ tough


Gilson:

·        Sauces such as sour crème and guacamole when fajitas are being served
·        Requested Eton mess to have more meringue
·        More red meat apposed to chicken

Welsh:

·        More types of pasta available – Ravioli, tortellini etc
·        Pancakes at breakfast
·        Sandwich bar at lunch- not ideal
·        Vegetables often not cooked enough, sometimes crunchy
·        Sauces at supper


Bursar mentioned Menu was being checked later this year

Huge amounts of wastage at meal times was also mentioned

When packed Lunches and other food is taken out of food hall rubbish needs to be put in bins



SCHOOL


Lower School:

·        Computers available in prep/ more in house
·        Computers/laptops to be used in lessons
·        Boarding in lower school

Gilson:

·        Stairs slippery by humanities building

Welsh:

·        Home clothes on Saturday – No as too many visitors on Saturday

Skipwith:

·        Lights on drive can be seen in bedrooms and keeping people up at night
Lights in general where then discussed and Burr have trouble with stable yard lights also
·        Curfew back to 2200 instead of 2145: (RTJ)


Orchard:

·        Clocks to work on the Tithe barn and pavilion (RC)
·        Access speed to internet and computers in general have been really slow recently
·        Remote desktop looses connection in evenings roughly around 2100 and 2200
·        Cricketers requested benches on new field
·        Lined A4 paper is often in shortage in classrooms, houses and office

Everett:

·        Requesting water fountains around school
·        More socials, one every half term - Year 10 mainly then year 9 and year11 such as a disco
·        YR 11 asking for more A level choices

Interactive whiteboards was discussed as to whether more are being installed. Told no at the moment

Burr:

·        Stairs slippery around school
·        Coat hooks in classrooms for blazers/jackets
