A tutor meeting

It is a warm evening; boys are mostly doing prep. One sixth former has finished his exams and is relaxing on the top floor. Some surreptitious texting may be going on in year 11, but most are conscious of an English exam the next morning.

Scene: Burr House office, evening, interior. One of the teachers, a BURR TUTOR is at the computer, looking at progress reviews on his tutor group of half a dozen boys.

Enter a PUPIL, one of the group.

They sit and talk through the grades and comments. The PUPIL is distressed to find that he has not done as well as he had hoped in one subject. The TUTOR telephones his colleague, who happens to live on site, the SUBJECT TEACHER. She stops what she's doing, and comes across. The three of them discuss the position, reassure the PUPIL that he has plenty of time to make progress before his exams next summer, and agree the ACTION STEPS which will help him.

Some DOGS are barking outside but otherwise the night is still, and the heat of the day is starting to cool.

The PUPIL resolves that perhaps dropping into the the daily SUPPORT SESSION after games might be a good idea.  The SUBJECT TEACHER goes back home. The TUTOR turns to the next progress review.

The DOGS fall asleep.
